Newport Jazz - '09

Just returned from two days at the festival.  Great jazz as always but there was a troubling sense about the event's future: fewer people overall, no PBS coverage (as it has done in the past for later editing and airing).  Wein saved it this year - and my guess is that the talent all took a pay cut to give the project a chance.  Wonder what all this bodes for future Newports.

I took hundreds of jazz photos.  Hope to have the best of the lot up on my website soon.
